Cultural opportunities in Van Alstyne are many, and growing:

Van Alstyne Quilt Guild. The Van Alstyne Quilt Guild is the best little Quilt Guild in Texas. Its membership includes almost 40 women, and, from time to time, men who enjoy fabric art have been part of the group. Members of the guild range in age from very young 30’s to somewhat older 70’s or perhaps a year or so older.

Despite their age differences, members are united by their love of quilting and other fabric arts. Each year they choose a community service project and devote several special meeting days to completing the project. Once each week, some guild members meet in the activities building of a local church to work on individual projects and to engage in the fellowship that is so important in building lasting relationships. Once each month some members of this group travels to a restaurant in the area.

Van Alstyne Culture Club. The Van Alstyne Culture Club is a women’s group of about 25 members that is interested in local history and promoting involvement in the community. They have monthly programs to highlight things of interest in the area such as the Master Gardeners, genealogy research, talented musicians and artist living nearby. They also support many ongoing projects in the community, including volunteering at the local historical museum, support parties and Christmas gifts at the local nursing home, sending care packages to military personnel, raising money to award a scholarship each year, and volunteering for other local projects.
